The idea of using a space such as this post-quake abandoned house was spawned by a desire to reclaim and utlise a small part of the empty and abandoned spaces still left standing. As a soon to be demolished site, this location provides a perfect backdrop for the main theme explored throughout the exhibit. One day sonner or (more likely) later, this building will be demolished along with the exhibit.

Everything that you see, be it photos, carpets, glass, or sculptures will be broken, put in the back of a truck and thrown in the ground (or into Lyttleton Harbour).

Whether you’re a CERA official, a nosy neighbour, some adventurous kids or the demolition man himself – we hope this exhibit will challenge your acceptance of all we have come to consider as ‘normal’.
